Rose Absolute Oil
Rose is one of the most classic aromatherapy plants and is sourced from Bulgaria, home to the finest Rose in the world. The typical Rosebush shape grows mainly in mountainous regions with deep pink flowers. In Bulgaria, this region is known as the Valley of the Roses.
The picking season lasts from May to June, and the hills are alive with pickers and the sweet scent of Rose distilling. Many festivals occur during this time to celebrate the harvest, and the towns are alive with colour and festivity.
Sourcing true Bulgarian Rose is difficult due to the large perfume houses having contracts with the producers to buy up all of their production. However, we are proud of our relationship with growers in the region, which goes back to the mid-2000s, helping us obtain a consistent, high-quality supply.

Characteristics of Rose Absolute Oil
The Rose absolute is viscous and can very in colour from batch to batch. Harvesting times, the colour and the climate all have a strong baring on the colour and aroma.
Rose is a very sweet and floral oil with dark and dusky undertones.
Common Uses of Rose Absolute Oil
Rose Oil is often used in aromatherapy oil blends. Rose oil is used to promote feelings or relaxation, optimism and being at one with the world. Rose Oil is a soothing oil.
Skin
Most commonly, Rose Oil is used to help against the appearance of redness and puffiness in the skin. Rose oil can be found in many anti-ageing blends associated with youth and a youthful complexion.
Mind
Rose oil is used extensively in aromatherapy to bring a sense of calm and relaxation. Aromatherapists will often use blends to help with stress, anxiety and depression.
Body
Rose oil has anti-inflammatory effects, so it is helpful in easing muscle aches. Combined with the calming effects on the mind, it is a commonly used oil in blends to reduce muscle tension.
Aroma
Rose blends well with many other essential oils, especially Lavender and Jasmine. Used at very low dose, Rose is helpful in creating perfume blends.
Precautions when using Rose Absolute Oil
As with all essential oils, we advise not to use Rose absolute during pregnancy.
Rose should be used in skincare products at low dose, Rose oil is a potent oil and therefore very little is needed.
When used in commercial blends, care should be taken to abide by your country limits on Methyl eugenol. Please refer to the IFRA and Allergens certificates available for download for calculations.
