Thankyou to everybody that came down to make our lavender planting day a great success. Together we planted 5000 plants and had a great day. It has been a great day for making new friendships. We hope you all managed to get one of Karen’s cakes!
We have another 15,000 plants to plant over the next week. If you are free and would like to get involved, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or just pop down to the field.
Lavender Planting Update, May 25, 2016
The planting is now complete. We have another planting at the start of June for a final 10,000 plants this year. After this we will commence our big land clearance and preparation for the main Lavender planting next year.
Currently our new plants are being propagated on a Commercial scale from our Original Gene Lavender Plant. This Lavender plant was obtained from a Lavender Farm that was in Carshalton & Wallington 100 years ago, allowing us to maintain the unique scent of Original Carshalton Lavender.
We will be planting 500,000 plants next year and the past month has been invaluable in teaching us different preparation techniques and how to increase the efficiency of the planting process.
Carshalton Community Lavender
Don’t forget Carshalton Community Lavender will be having an Open day this year, although not linked to us, historically we purchased our Lavender from them for inclusion in our Original Carshalton Lavender products.
Set up by local sustainable development charity, BioRegional the field that Carshalton Community Lavender later became responsible for, played a very important part in the revival of Lavender in the region. Carshalton Community Lavender open day will be on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July, 2016. More details can be found on their website at http://www.carshaltonlavender.org
Thank you again to everyone who came down and helped with our Lavender planting days. Your help has been invaluable and enthusiasm infectious.
